Thinking Of You

"Heís one of the best...Heís got bull chops!" - Dizzy Gillespie

There is a game played among longtime friends of Houston Person. It involves trying to guess what his next album will be. With Person, you never know. It is not only because he is capable of so much but because he has accomplished so much. He is a bandleader who books himself and has no personal manager. He is also his own record producer. He has recorded music in more than forty albums that rarely visits the same territory twice. Once again, Houston Person shows himself to be the master of versatility and delivers a program of eleven tunes by such diverse composers as Richard Rodgers, Benny Carter, Barry Manilow and Joe Raposo! With John di Martino laying down the harmonic support while Ray Drummond, John Chirillo and Willie Jones III supply the rhythmic thrust, Houston imbues each and every track with the understanding, sensitivity and musical integrity that only he can provide.

Houston Person- tenor saxophone; Eddie Allen- trumpet; John di Martino- piano; James Chirillo- guitar; Ray Drummond- bass; Willie Jones III- drums.

Tracks: Rock Me to Sleep; People; Brazilian Emerald; Why Did I Choose You?; Black Coffee; Thinking of You; Medley: That Sunday That Summer/Funny; I Didnít Know What Time It Was; Sing; Avant de Mourir (My Prayer); When October Goes.
