Savant CD 2090 Wayne Escoffery Hopes and Dreams $13.00 Order | ||||
"Wayne Escoffery...his name deserves mention in any discussion of upper echelon tenor players.." - Edward Zucker, All About Jazz NY For his second Savant release, Escoffery returns with a quartet comprised of vibraphonist Joe Locke, bassist Hans Glawischnig and drummers Lewis Nash or Johnathan Blake. Also on hand is Escoffery?s colleague and sometimes boss, trumpeter and composer Tom Harrell. The brand of jazz played is sensible and melodic post-bop. Escoffery may be the happy medium between John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. The young saxophonist was a prot?g? of the late alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, an influence that shows through Escoffery?s long, carefully constructed solo lines. But Escoffery is his own man and this outing shows him to be one of today?s undisputed masters. Wayne Escoffery- tenor saxophone; featuring Tom Harrell- trumpet; Joe Locke- vibes; Hans Glawischnig- bass; Lewis Nash or Johnathan Blake- drums. Tracks: Hopes and Dreams; Liason; Love Walked In; Noon Night; Chronic Blues; Dedication to Wanda; The Sake of It; The Face I Love. |
