If one were attempting to design a prototype for the quintessential contemporary musician, trumpeter/fluegelhornist/composer Russell Gunn would be an ideal model. Perhaps no other jazz musician's music has crossed so many musical boundaries, has delighted as well as infuriated, has looked so far forward as well as back.
