Russell Gunn
Mood Swings

"Time changes and people must, too," says trumpeter/flugelhornist/composer Russell Gunn, and few artists have lived their own creed with such passion or as successfully as he. His style is eclectic, to be sure, but he is able to weave a seamless, cogent tapestry of beats drawn from Hiphop, Gogo, Funk, Africa, Cuba, Brazil and other influences. "Mood Swings" is yet another branch on Russell's evolutionary tree, finding him swinging hard and fast in a B-3 group with Hammond-master Radam Schwartz. That is not to say this is your typical 'chicken shack' organ gig. Nothing about Gunn is ever 'typical'. Russell brings the ensemble into the 21st Century with his considerable composing skills, virtuoso trumpet chops and seriousness of intent.
