HighNote HCD 7074 Rusty Bryant Rusty Rides Again $13.00 Order | ||||
Rusty Bryant is one of those legendary names in jazz, much like Teddy Edwards, who never gained widespread popularity and acceptance because of their basically sedentary lifestyle. Rusty did, however, have a few moments in the sun, recording for Dot Records in the late 50's, hooking up with Prestige from 1968-1974, playing with Groove Holmes and touring with Big Maybelle, Erskine Hawkins, The Drifters and others. These recordings post-date Bryant's years at Prestige and cognoscenti agree, Rusty never sounded better. None of these recordings have been available since their original issue on LP more than twenty years ago. HighNote Records continues to mine the incredible wealth of material that documents the famous and the forgotten names in jazz with this important release. Rusty Bryant- tenor saxophone; Gary Carney- trombone; Bobby Floyd- piano; Terry Binns- electric bass; Joe Ong- drums Tracks: Gettin' in the Groove; Soft Winds; St. Thomas; Rusty Rides Again; The Entertainer/ I'm Old Fashioned; Love For Sale. |
