'Papa' John DeFrancesco
Walking Uptown

'Papa' John DeFrancesco is a Hammond B-3 player from Philadelphia. That simple declarative tells you a lot. You know his groove will be cooking and funky with strong jazz overtones. You know you will hear echoes of the past organ masters Groove Holmes, Jimmy Smith, etc. Do the apples fall far from the tree? Not as evidenced on this CD. A major contributor as intrumentalist & composer to this outing is Johnny DeFrancesco, another of the immensely talented DeFrancesco boys. There is even a brief guest appearance by Joey DeFrancesco making this a real family affair. The repertoire includes music by Booker Ervin, Curtis Mayfield and others plus, of course, originals by the Grand-Old-Man of the DeFrancesco Clan, 'Papa' John himself.

with Tim Warfield- soprano & tenor sax; Johnny DeFrancesco- guitar; Glenn Ferracone- drums; Paul Klinefelter- bass; Special Guest: Joey DeFrancesco- piano & trumpet.

Tracks: One for Jack Mac; Sunny; People Get Ready; 160 Million Dollar Chinese Man; Mojo; Walking Uptown; Delaware Fox; What Happened.
