HighNote HCD 7064
Larry Coryell is totally devoted to his art the art of playing the guitar. His musical intellect is superior as it is diverse. As a younger man he flirted with the then current trend and established the 11th House as a milestone in the fusion era. Make no mistake Coryell is a jazz player, a modern improviser as inventive as any modernist but he never loses the pulse. The HighNote label continues to explore the jazz "Inner Urge" of Coryell. The rest of the rhythm section of John Hicks, piano, Santi Debriano, bass, Yoron Israel, drums all add to the texture that coalesce into a unified driving musical statement. Trumpeter and producer Don Sickler contributes other colors that bind this project into an outstanding body of work. The legendary Van Gelder worked his magic as sound engineer. The sound is top of the line, a stereophile dream. This is one of Larry Coryell's best!
