HighNote CD 7117 Don Braden The New Hang $13.00 Order | ||||
Ever since his arrival in New York back in 1984, Don Braden has been one of the most impressive tenor saxophonists of his generation. Peter Watrous, in The New York Times, called Braden "brilliant and assured" while venerable drummer Roy Haynes said he is "one of the young lions of the tenor saxophone." After attending Harvard University, Braden played with such luminaries as Betty Carter, Dr. Lonnie Smith, the Wynton Marsalis Quintet and enjoyed stints with Tom Harrell, the Mingus Big Band, Art Farmer, Kenny Barron, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and others too numerous to mention. With his long-time friends, Messrs Koehler, Herwig and Brooks, Braden once again shows what has made him one of the top saxophonists of the 21st century. Don Braden- saxophone; Kyle Koehler- organ; Conrad Herwig- trombone; Cecil Brooks III- drums. Tracks: Through the Fire; Without a Song; When I Fall in Love; No Complaints; The Traveler; Wish List; Release; Mother’s Wish; Code Blue; The New Hang. |
