Savant SCD 2011 Carlos Garnett Moon Shadow $13.00 Order | ||||
Carlos Garnett is now considered on of jazz's most incendiary tenor saxophonists. Taking his Coltrane influences and mixing it with the experiences gained from playing with the likes of Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, Art Blakey and others then sprinkling it with the fiery Latin rhythms of his native Panama, Carlos has forged an unmistakable style. For his Savant Records debut, Carlos has assembled a "little big band" that roars, purrs, soars and sails through nine sizzling tracks. Carlos pays tribute to Coltrane with "Giant Steps" and "My Favorite Things", to Clifford Brown with "Delilah Dances" and to his Latin heritage with "Maña de Carnaval" and his original tune, "Salsa Blue". This is Carlos Garnett's most ambitious and perhaps most memorable recording to date. Al Flythe - tenor saxophone; Derick Gardner - trumpet; Robert Trowers - trombone; Carlton Holmes - piano; George Mitchell - bass; Shingo Okudaira - drums; Neil Clarke - percussion Tracks: Moon Shadow; Giant Steps; Delilah; Manha de Carnaval; McCoy Next Block; The Shadow of Your Smile; My Favorite Things; Salsa Blue; Softly As In a Morning Sunrise |
