The scene is a small club about 20 minutes west of Manhattan in West Orange, New Jersey. For six years the club's proprietor, drummer Cecil Brooks III has been dedicated to bringing spirited jazz performance to seasoned jazzers and new fans alike. What you have here is the latest captured moments from Cecil's: an organ trio known as The CBIII Band, or here "Hot D.O.G." (drums, organ, guitar). This recording, captured live at the club, features the organ lock of Cecil Brooks, B-3 great Kyle Koehler and guitarist Matt Cherkoff. These men play together regularly and in front of the appreciative club audience they reach a white heat of improvisational creativity and set the place on fire, musically speaking.
