With long, blues-drenched melodic lines and a distinctive style, guitarist-composer Bob DeVos has been attracting enthusiastic audiences and rave reviews with his own Hammond B-3 Trio. Bob started out replacing Pat Martino in the Trudy Pitts & Mr. C Organ Trio, then went on to perform and record extensively with other Hammond B-3 Organ trio legends: Charles Earland, Jimmy McGriff-Hank Crawford, Richard Groove Holmes-Sonny Stitt, Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith and many, many jazz greats outside the organ jazz genre. Breaking the Ice is Bobs debut CD as a leader with his great friend Charles The Mighty Burner Earland. This is a CD that casual listeners, jazz guitar aficionados, and reviewers still talk about: What an album it is, burning from beginning to end with that real 60s organ group vibe?. A storming recording. DeVos is a master of the style, building his solos from economically spaced entrances to double-time or Grant Green-like rhythmic displacement. His sound is to die for, rich, full, deep, positive, round and warm-Just Jazz Guitar.
